Poor Customer Service

Went to the Telkom store in Cape Gate (near the banks) on the 20th of January 2017 to purchase my wife a new phone. the Telkom book showed the Huawei P8 lite at R2499 when purchased cash.

We tried to purchase the device but the system showed it R3899, which as incorrect. The sales person then advised me that he can’t discount the device as does not have the authorisation to do so. I proceeded to ask for the store manager or supervisor to step in only to be informed that no-one was in store to do so.

I then asked the sales person to contact a supervisor or another store to ascertain if they had stock of the deal which he refused to do, telling me to come back another time when his manager is back at work.

I informed him that I will not be returning and that he needs to contact whoever has the power to do the discount and get the device sold. With a smirk on his face he informed me that he doesn’t get any form of commission on cash sales, only on contract, so if I want the device it will be contact or no sale and I can return another time. He proceeded to arrogantly ask me if he should keep the device or just sell it on contact to another customer.

When asked repeatedly if he represents Telkom he not, he ignored me and addressed my wife in a disrespectful manner telling her to just return over the weekend as we do not reside far.

I find this highly disrespectful and unacceptable to be treated in this way. It seems as if a cash buyer was given second hand treatment and that only contact buyers were valued.

I dealt with a sales person named Jason who still had the audacity to ask for a service rating.

Sale consultant: Jason

Supervisor: Riaan / Kelly (according to Jason)

I was shocked at the level of service we received and left the store to purchase the device at Game who not only matched the price but beat it too.
