Poor ADSL Performance
In December 2015 Telkom was so nice to inform customers on the Silverton Exchange that they are upgrading the network. We were promised a new level of network performance and it sounded great.

The problem is that after this Telkom network upgrade my ADSL modem has stopped connecting to the exchange at 2048 / 512 kbps and will now only connect at 1274 / 508 kbps.

I have 3 ADSL modems and all 3 connect with the same speed, line attenuation and SNR. The line attenuation translates to the correct distance from the exchange, SNR is better than the minimum specification. Technically my line should be able to connect at 4 Mbs without problems.

This would normally indicate that I don't have a modem fault, except if you are the Telkom Call Centre Operator. I even removed the telephone filter to make sure the problem is not on my side.

Two weeks ago I managed to get a call logged after a long struggle. The problem is that nobody from Telkom have bothered to phone me to date to look at my problem with the ADSL connection speed. Now I am trying Hellopter in the hope that someone out there can help. Keeping my fingers crossed.
