Pensioner rebate

On the 16th May 2016 I notified Telkom (Adderley street, CT) that I had turned 70 and therfore qualified for the pensioner's rebate. My ID was copied and I was assured my records would be updated and the next account would reflect the rebate. My account ( ********** 9001) received a credit of R83-75 and new account ********** 05330 was opened with additional charges of R73-46 and my normal monthly charges remained the same. In July the credit of R83-75 appeared but all other charges were the same. I called Telkom and was told the next account would reflect the rebate. Today I received my August account and NOTHING has changed - i.e. STILL NO REBATE!

This morning (9 August 2016) I received an SMS, 5 to be correct, telling me now my bankstatement and pensioner's card is required. I fail to see what my bankstement has to do with it (maybe to get hold of my account number?) and I do not have a pensioner's card. I turned 70 on the 14th of May. On the 12th I telephoned to find out what the procedure was to get the rebate. I was told to visit my nearest branch with my ID - NO MENTION OF BANKSTATEMENTS OR PENSIONER'S CARDS! I went in on the 16th and again NO MENTION OF BANKSTATEMENTS OR PENSIONER'S CARDS, the lady only asked me for my ID which I gave her. Real double standards and also a lack of knowledge by those working at the customer "service?" centres.

To date I have NOT had any response to the above post. Yet another lack of customer "service" ! I called Telkom again to find out exactly what is required for the pensioner's rebate and again I was told only my ID! I did not bother wasting my time and petrol to go in as I still awainting clarity. I also tried looking on the website but could not find anything except to confirm over 70's are entitled to a rebate!
