Pensioner left for six weeks without landline or internet
My landline was cut off by a Telkom employee on 21st December (I have her name). Endless phone calls on neighbour's phone got nowhere. Have held on for 50 minutes on one occasion. Asked to speak to a manager 5 times. Each time told they would phone me back. No one ever did. Finally got hold of Naathi in Sales. He promised to do something and promptly went on a week's leave. Technician finally arrived on 19th January to install a new number. I told him I didn't want a new number. Had to go back down to see the manager at Telkom in Pmb. She said I would have to have a new number and IF my number was still available they would be able to change it back once the line was installed. I'm still waiting!! As I am a widow and and have to generate income from working from home, this has been a hugely frustrating saga. I am losing money by the day because I can't reach my client's and they can't reach me. I have no access to my security system which is linked to my landline and for which I still have to pay. I have no email and thus can't access my accounts, statements, clients etc. If I had had any inclination that restoring the line would be such an issue I would have had no hesitation in cancelling my contract with Telkom before Christmas and making other arrangements. I am extremely angry and frustrated by Telkom"s complete lack of interest in my situation.
