Penalty causing gross loss of income

I work from home and get paid by the hour. My son is in matrix and is busy writing his exams. We both need internet connectivity desperately. I am a single mother and my ex pays for my internet which he does diligently every month. This month he was a few days late with his payment and consequently tellkom had penalized us with a penalty of no connectivity for 5 days. That means I lose R400 income and my son loses valuable studying time. I have spent so much using my phone as a hot spot and the majority of time I cannot even connect. I think this is grossly unfair and the cost to us is just ridiculous. Changing to another service provider is best but that does not solve my problem in the meantime.
