Paying for Service that was never rendered

My experience started when my telkom line stopped working because I hadn't paid. I proceeded to pay the amount due but I continued to not get any internet. I called in (and after hours of holding the line), a technician came in to have a look at it. The technician left and said the line would work again in about a day or so. This did not happen.

I let the issue go and settled for a mobile wifi router that I got myselft instead. After a 6 months I receive a call from Telkom notifying me that my account is in arrears. I instantly told them I called a technician in and that my line did not work after I paid. They said they would investigate and get back to me. After a week I get the same call telling me that if I dont pay they would take legal action against me. I proceeded to ask about the investigation I had lodged and they kept sending me between their sales and technical departments. None of them could give me an answer as to why my line stopped working. It seems there is no way they could see whether I had actually used the internet service I was being charged for. I told them it was extremely unfair that I pay for a service not rendered to me for technical reasons on their part. I was then told they would investigate the issue further.

I few weeks later I was called my Blake and Associates, debt collectors. The issue had been escalated to legal action. The Telkom account was not in my name, and so to protect the account holder's credit record and keep the diligent agents from Blake and Associates from harrassing the account holder I gave in and worked out a payment agreement to pay off the amount I was unfairly notifified to pay.

I told my partner recently that I was paying Telkom and she advised I send the complaint here on hello peter as she was able to be helped with a problem she had with MTN. I hope this issue can be helped.
