Pathetic Telkom Customer Service

I took a telkom mobile uncapped wifi router contract in October 2018. Then on 31 December 2018, I added 2 handsets to this contract (both 5 gig free me deals). On 22 January 2019, I received an obscure SMS stating that my account had been suspended. I ignored the SMS as I didn't know where it came from. Later the same day, I realised that my sim had been blocked. I contacted the customer support centre and was told that my account was suspended. The agent couldn't tell me why my account was suspended. I called again and this time the agent I spoke to advised that my account should not have been suspended and that she had raised a request for the suspension to be removed. On 23 January 2019 around 11 am, I again called the customer support center and was told that my bill for January was higher than my credit limit due to the prorata charges for the two handsets I got on 31 December 2018. Furthermore, I was informed I need to pay a specific amount to bring the amount due for January 2019 in line with the credit limit. After expressing my protestations and dissatisfaction, I agreed to pay the amount. I then went to a Telkom store at Eastgate to make the payment. Having waited 30 minutes to be served, I was advised that no payments can be made in store. I would have to make a deposit into an ABSA account. Frustrated, I left and took a decision to let the debit order run on the 30 January 2019. Seems the ills of old still haunt the 'new' Telkom mobile. Having spent 10 years with Vodacom, I now realise I shouldn't have left them. They have their own issues but their customer service is second to none. Telkom's service is extremely poor and if I could, I'd cancel my contract with them immediately. Amateurs. Mxm
