pathetic service from telkom

Getting through to Telkom must certainly be the most excruciating experience for any business. We took up a month to month fibre contract with Telkom in May/June. Month to month obviously so that we could cancel any time we wanted. The cost we were quoted per month was R1885, nothing was mentioned about R920.00. So the bill arrives and we query the billing, only to be told those were once off charges and pro - rata costs because the contract started in the middle of the month. As the months passed, we see that we are still being charged the R920.00. on numerous occasions we queried, and were told it will take 14 to 21 days for someone to call us regarding this. This never happened. So we decided to stop paying that amount. We then get a call from Telkom advising that they will disconnect our line if the payment is not received. I explained to the caller what the problem was and he advised me to call the call centre. I called the call billing, was asked to contact the sales department, then the cancellation department, then I had to speak to someone about downgrading. I was told that if we downgrade we will lose our number, cos what we have to do is cancel the line, (takes about 30 days) then apply for a new line (takes another 30 days) and request the same number. No one ever advised before installation that if we wish to cancel the fibre then we will lose our number as we cannot change from fibre back to a copper infrastructure. I was then advised to call the technical department to see if this can be done, and after all this, asked to call the sales department again too log my request as an order . After 2 hours of speaking to consultants from the various departments, still no joy. How does Telkom run their business? I rest my case!!!!
