Pathetic Service

10 November 2016 - I app**** for the deal of the month Huawei Wi-Fi router. My application and supporting documents were sent to Head Office for verification/approval . I was requested to wait for 30 minutes for the approval. After 30 minutes I enquired about the progress. The consultant said it was approved, but she is busy with another client I must sit and wait. After another 20 minutes I was informed, the system is down, she will call me back. At night I received an sms indicating my incident (which I did not log )was resolved. I went back on 11 November but the particular sales consultant was not in yet, and I was requested to come back when she is in. I refused and asked why can this consultant could not assist. It is approved and the devise is in store. (Reason for not giving it to me the previous day was because of the system being down) I was rudely requested for my ID which was entered correctly after the 3rd attempt. The consultant disappeared to the staff room to join the company of two other colleagues. The shop floor was left unattended and customers came in but left again as there was no one to provide a service. Only 1 one customer had enough patience to wait. After 30 minutes I decided I have waited long enough and need to know what the holdup was. I took pictures of the 3 staff in the staff room . The one who was supposed to fetch the router was sitting on the desk like a lady, second person watching the scene and 3rd person behind the computer. As a matter of interested, there are 4 other computers in the customer service area that could be operated by the other 2 staff members. When they realised I was taking photos, the 1 jumped of the desk, the gentleman behind the computer tried to take my cell phone shouting at me that I am not allowed to take pictures and threatened not to handover my device. When I started calling customer service, only then they gave me the router. Did not explain the contract, the device or proofed it to be in working order. I was demanded to sign a paper. I had to ask multiple times what the purpose of the paper was. The answer, to acknowledge receipt of the device. I then scratched out the list of questions about service, device, device operations, and just wrote the words collecting device and signed. I have purchased numerous devises over the last couple of years. The sales person is supposed to open the sealed device in front of the customer to proof that it contains the full an true package, explain installation and operation, show the sim number etc and confirm if the client fully understands and have any questions. Oops, not Telkom. Something beyond their understanding. Brooklyn Mall Telkom absolutely sucks. it is useless to try and call the customer service. They just give you a host of other numbers that does not give an option to complain. I still do not know what the number of the sim for the device is. The cell phone number provided as mobile number is my contact number with Vodacom.

PS. To top it all, a 4th person, with a red shirt who are supposed to do 'who knows what, wass chatting on his phone for the entire time while the entire incident took place. he initially came out of the staff room chatting on the phone and wandering the floor and outside the shop peeing doing window shopping at Telkom. When he eventually got off his cell phone when I started taking pictures, he said he is not part of Telkom he is supposed to check marketing products at Telkom? Eish!!!!

Jeannette Vosloo
