Pathetic, arrogant personnel at Telkom shop
I went into the Telkom Kalahari Express shop in Upington to do a sim to e-sim swop on Friday 6 December 2024. This is a pay as you go account and the sim was issued to my husband when he bought a phone in Truworths in Hartebee****rt about 5 years ago. When the person looked on the system, this number was still registered to another person although we have been using it for the past 5 years. I was told that they would not be able to assist because it's not registered in my name. I gave the consultant my id as well as proof of residence, used email *** to email the proof of residence. She informed me that a case needs to be logged to change ownership or I need to have the previous owner of this account come to the shop with me to sign it over? Again, we received this sim card when buying a pre-paid phone.....so who the hell is the previous owner???? A case was logged. Ticket ***. Today Thursday 12 December at 10:58 I received a call from Telkom head office number *** informing me that they would not be able to assist with this matter because I need to go to the nearest Telkom shop to have this sorted. I need to provide them with my ID as well as proof of residence???? This was done on the 6th of December already. We stay in a small town in the Northern Cape 120 km away from Upington so to visit a Telkom shop is no short trip to the mall. I called Telkom Kalahari Express shop on the number *** and a male person answered the phone (Tsonica or something like that) told me that they would not be able to help me if the owner of the number is not with me. After explaining that it's a prepaid sim issued to us he told me that either I will lose the number or I need to go to Hartbee****rt dam, 900 odd kms away from us to get this sorted. My husband called back and asked to speak to a person in Afrikaans. This arrogant male put the phone down in his ear. He called back another 6 times, of which he only answered on the 6th try. Got to speak to Alvona, explained everything again after which she called back asking for the documentation AGAIN. Called her back to get the arrogant male answering again and sarcastically calling her to the phone. This documentation was sent from my phone, so I could easily trace date, time and forwarding email. Gave it through to her, so the next issue is that the case is still open even though head office was unable to assist. Can someone who cares about Telkom customer service please get in contact with me to sort out this issue, seeing that the personnel of Telkom Kalahari Express in Upington are not interested in doing it. My contact number is ***.
