Overbilled / Misrepresented sales terms

Prior to July 2020 I had an Unlimited Home Fibre 10mbps package for which I paid R649.61 per month. This included (as per my statement): Closer CallCatcher, Telkom Anytime Extra, Retail Fibre Broadband 10Mbps (Consumer), Retail Fibre contract fee (Consumer) and Lite Uncapped (10Mbps). On 1 July 2020, while applying via phone for a Telkom Mobile contract, the salesperson pitched me a 20Mbps fibre line for R699 pm. She said it would include all the services I already had, and that the only difference would be the line speed. I asked her multiple times whether the total amount I would be paying – the bottom line on the statement – would be R699. She said yes multiple times. I asked, again multiple times, whether there are any hidden costs. She said no multiple times. I took her up on the offer.

I have since been billed R1181.61 for July, R857.51 for August and R857.51 for September. I contacted the billing department. The consultant told me their systems were down, but that it sounded like I was “put on the wrong package” and referred me to the sales department. The sales department said that the discrepancy must be due to a voice package being included and that I would need to cancel the voice package.

That was not the agreement! The agreement was that, as I said above, everything would stay the same, apart from the line speed and that the total monthly cost would be R699.

Please correct this. Refund my overpayments, and adjust my billing going forward.

Thanks!
