Overbilled at Telkom's Convenience
Roughly 6 months ago I purchased the smart broadband 100gig day and 100 gig night data deal from Telkom for R999. This was taking out at the store and i had asked the lady to make sure that I do not pay for any OOB rates (out-of-bundle). This was done i know because in June (I think) I reached my limit and i could clearly see the message on my browser saying I have reached my limit and i will need to purchase data to use the internet. I left it as is as I know there is only 1 day left for month end and the next month data will kick in. Which it did and I paid R999.
For August 2017 the same thing happened where I depleted my data and it showed me the message indicating this. However when my bill came via email it says i owe R1500 for the month!! I called through and the agent said that I had a R500 cap which makes no sense as I requested to just have my internet cut with no OOB charges. Apparently he also could not see on his system the other month when my data was cut and I didn't have to pay extra and the best he could do was raise a dispute.
So, why did I suddenly get OOB rates enabled on my account and have to pay for their mistake.
I thought there was hope for Telkom but if this issue isn't resolved, I would pay more to take my business to any other network provider and never recommend Telkom to any of my clients as this is an unnecessary issue which just causes frustration more then anything else. This leads to many people changed from Telkom to other provider simply by word of month which creates a bad brand reputation.
I don't really care about the R500 if I actually did owe this, but it irritates me to think such a large invested company cannot get simple things right.
