Ordered 10Mbps ADSL - got only 4Mbps ADSL
I have ordered a Telkom ADSL Line 10Mbps to be installed at my premises, I have done a survey on the website and see that my Exchange DOES support 10Mbps ADSL. The technician installed the line and when testing the Line only has a upstream of 504Kbps and Downstream of 3692Kbps on a line with Line Attenuation (dB) 44.4 and SNR Margin (dB) upstream 14.7 and Downstream 13.7 - Usually the downstream is between 22 and 28 on a 10Mbps line. The line is capable of 1020Kbps upstream and 6164Kbps downstream in its current format and connection. I have asked the Installation Technician if he cannot install a ADSL Loop Extender to boost the signal and he just said the exchange is 4.9Km away I will have to make do with a 4Mbps line. Subsequently I have logged several calls (415CRK271015) on order ***A but to no avail. I have gone as far as to order a AER800-1P and expecting it to arrive from overseas soon so i may install the Loop extender myself. I wish telkom can send out a technician to up the Gauge of the wire to 19/0.9 which will give me a better SNR. I know that if they wanted to they can connect me to a shorter circuit that will reduce the distance to the DSLAM.
