Ongoing Billing After Cancellation & Poor In-Store Service
My mother has attempted to cancel her Telkom Mobile service on numerous occasions. Each time, Telkom confirms that the cancellation has been processed, yet the account continues to be debited. The service has been fully paid up, and store consultants have also confirmed that the contract was cancelled.
Despite this, the debits continue. We have visited Telkom stores countless times and made repeated calls to customer service, only to be told every time that the cancellation has already been processed. Each month, however, we are again informed that the latest debit is supposedly the “last payment” — something we have been told repeatedly with no resolution.
Today, at the Telkom Pavilion branch, we were assisted by a consultant named Siyanda, whose attitude was completely unprofessional and condescending. He spoke dismissively, displayed a lack of basic customer service skills, and was unwilling to assist further. I clearly explained that my frustration is directed at Telkom as a company for failing to cancel the service while continuing to debit the account. He responded by saying he could not assist me any further.
We have also sent a formal email confirming cancellation, including confirmation that the associated insurance with Omart has been cancelled as well.
My greatest concern is that these continuous debits are being taken from a pensioner’s account, which feels like clear exploitation. This matter has dragged on far too long and has caused unnecessary stress and financial strain.
Telkom needs to urgently: • Stop all further debits • Refund any amounts taken after cancellation • Provide written confirmation that the account is fully closed
This experience reflects extremely poor service, lack of accountability, and disregard for vulnerable customers
