Not paying for your lawyers for you

So I have an outstanding balance on my account and just before I pay it I get a call to say the Bill is now double because of lawyer fees? That's ridiculous. how can my Bill double over a month when I still paid the previous month. I was never informed of that if pay then the account will be handed over. That's not normal
