Non Existant Service

On 18 April I reported my landline and ADSL were dead. A week later I escalated the fault and 2 days later a technician came to check and verified that one leg of the line was open circuit. He came back later and said the ADSL was working but not the landline. The ADSL continually connects and disconnects and when it is connected it is unuseable. The landline remains dead after 3 weeks. Unfortunately I know what the problem is! The line to my house is only 3km from the exchange but runs between several other properties with overgrown shrubs and trees around the line. It has had several breaks over the past 20 years and the quality has grown steadily worse. It is very difficult for a technician to get access to the line and so even if they do they just add another joint and the quality deteriorates even further. I also believe that Telkom is not really interested in maintaining landline and ADSL any more, they would rather we move to LTE at a higher cost.
