Non-cancellation of contract

In and about January 2016, I went to Telkom Centre in Greenstone to replace a damaged ADSL modem due to lightning. I was informed of a new product, LTE, which had a better speed and was not prone to lighting strikes. I was informed I could upgrade to this new product and terminate the existing ADSL line at no cost as this was perceived as an upgrade. I then purchased the LTE service with account number ********** 99. On 09 January 2017, I sent a termination email to Telkom for the ADSL services which is attached herein. Despite the termination, the account was not closed and Telkom continued to debit my account.

In October 2016, at the end of the contractual term, I went to the Telkom Centre in Greenstone to terminate the service once more. I signed the termination form and it was faxed from the centre to the relevant department. Despite the termination, the account was not closed and Telkom continued to debit my account, until February 2017 when I instructed the bank to cancel the debit order.

Now Telkom states I owed them approximately R 2000.00 and threatened legal action. Despite the fact that they have *******ly charged R 581.00 for over 14 months for a service which I had canceled.

Unfortunately, a payment of R3000 was made to this Telkom account incorrectly on 03 June 2017. I have requested a refund from Telkom with no response to date.

If this matter is not resolved I will be taking legal action.
