NO VPN or other Business services allowed on Telkom APN

I thought I would write a review on Telkom Mobile LTE services.

I know this review comes more than a year after telkom implemented restrictions on their APNs internet and TelkomInternet , but I thought I would just warn consumers entering into contract with telkom mobile about the restrictions on telkoms LTE services now.

Telkom has essentially blocked all incoming connections for hosted services on their public internet and TelkomInternet APNs , so if you plan to use LTE for web hosting or if you use telkom internet to host a VPN or even connect to an external VPN , the telkom APN will block these services.

You can still access these services but only with the Telkom unrestricted APN , this APN is extremely , extremely unsecured . You will be subject to hacker attacks almost immediately once connected and you will have to rely on your own firewall to protect you.

So in in nutshell telkom implemented restrictions protecting general consumers but now leave business customers unsecured because we now have to use unrestricted APN to access our business resources.

This is really dissapppointing and I will be moving to another network once my contract is over.

I wish they would just have another APN for business users where incoming connections for VPN would be unrestricted and still have the security for other unsolicited incoming connections to be blocked. But try calling the telkom call centre and explain this to the call centre agent without losing your mind and booking yourself into weskoppies.
