NO TECHNICIANS available for a call out - it's been a WEEK already!

My ADSL line is not working, logged a call via the ISP (mweb) last week - confirmed to be a telkom line issue.

I pay my bills on time and in most cases the account is in "credit" so I'm playing my part Telkom! After several calls to the tech support call centre and numerous escalations, today I've been told the following "We have followed up with the tech support team and THERE ARE NO TECHNICIANS available. They have a back log and are short staffed" REALLY TELKOM!!! You are kidding me. I am also not allowed to have contact details for the Tech Team nor the Tech Team manager. I am not able to speak to a senior call centre manager as they are "hard to reach as they are always in meetings" (not my words.....the agent's words). In the meantime I will be billed for the days that the line has been out of service - no way that's happening. No service. No payment.

Telkom needs to get their act together. Time to seek alternate solutions...

Hi Noleen,

Thanks for responding.

You have told me exactly what the call centre agents have been telling me since last Friday (23 June). But I believe a technician will be paying me a visit somethime between 8am and 4pm today. I've had to take the day off. So lets see whether we get some sort of traction today and whether the tech support pitches and is able to resolve the ongoing issue.

Regards

I took the day off from work on Friday. The technician was a "no show" - due to the rain even though it stopped raining in the morning already. I was on the phone to and frow with Telkom most of the day on Friday up until around 16h30. constanty being told that the technician "will come out on Friday" which later changed to "not coming due to the rain" even though I advise them from around noon that the rain had stopped.

The technician arrive on Saturday morning looking very annoyed. he didnt announce who he was and what his visit was for until after i let him in. So some advice to the techies - identify yourself when the clients open the door in order to ensure its safe to let you in.

He didnt come across and very competent but after a few hours of troubleshooting he found the fault on one of the outside lines. We are monitoring the performance on the line to ensure it's resolved.

I am still not paying for the downtime experienced between when the call was logged 29 June and when it was re-instated 1 July. So this needs to be deducted before the arrival of my next bill please.

Nooooooo....here we are again - 1 month later and its feeling like deja vu.

The line connection has dropped again and battling to get Telkom to speak to me to let me know what the status is. This morning (when i called after 8am) the same techinician was assigned previously was assigned to come out to check the line. when i called now to get a status update i was told that the technician is not assigned but that the call is with the testing centre. when i asked to speak to a manager who could call the techies and ask for a status the agent's response was "but I am giving you the status". when i insisted that ive been through this recently and i need the manager who can make the call to follow up on status with the tech team the response was "all managers are in a meeting".

ai tog Telkom!!! I need to switch to a solution that does not require any routing or lines dependent on Telkom......
