NO STABLE SERVICE YET AGAIN
Dear Telkom,
Yet again I find myself in the middle of another endless annoyance with telkom.
Landline number: **********
Firstly on Saturday afternoon (the 24th Feb 2018), my mom and brother rocked up to their home at around half past 4 only to find that their telephone line and adsl line was not working. He had even asked a neighbor if their line was working and it was not.
At first, my brother contacted the ISP to find out if there was a network outage in the area to which the consultant said that there was and that telkom is working on it.
By the next day, the telephone and adsl lines were still not working, so my brother called the ISP again and this time the consultant said that telkom had closed the fault and that all was now ok. My brother then told the consultant that he still didn't have access to both a telephone nor adsl line. The consultant then tried to log a fault and it would not go through because apparently telkom had left a prior fault still open on the system under my moms telephone number.
He was then asked to call telkom which my brother did. The consultant at telkom was very friendly and assisted by closing off the old fault and then creating a new one with a new reference number, 157CNK250218. This morning (26th feb 2018) my brother received an SMS to say that the line has been restored, BUT IT WAS NOT. So he called telkom again from a cellphone and then found out that apparently after they had fixed my fault, about an hour later, an area technical fault was reported. She then gave him a new reference number, 45CNK260218, to link him to the area fault.
FIRSTLY, we find this hard to believe because even the neighbor did not and still does not have a working telephone line since Saturday, 24th Feb 2018. So how could the fault be corrected on my moms landline and not with the neighbor as the problem experienced by both my mom and her neighbor was the same in that they did not have telephone service.
I find it very odd that my moms fault was apparently fixed only for telkom to find an area fault afterwards.... Wouldnt telkom know that there was an area fault considering that my moms fault was reported earlier.
SECONDLY was really annoys me is that this is not the first time that this has happened. Previously with my mothers adsl line, the line kept dropping (which they fixed a few weeks ago). Just 2 weeks ago, for about a week, my mother could not receive landline calls even though she could make them.
I am beginning to wonder if telkom would ever have a stable service that anyone can rely on?????????? Or is my area being treated this way because it isn't a business area like Umhlanga or Durban North????? Using the telephone service or adsl in our area is like playing the lottery.... You never know when it will be stable or not.
THIRDLY, what astounds me to no end is the fact that when my brother spoke to the lovely consultant at telkom this morning, she said that they do not know when the fault in my area will be repaired as there is no information on the fault. THIS IS BLATANTLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! PAYING FOR SERVICES THAT CANNOT BE USED LET ALONE THE SHEER INCONVENIENCE!!!!!!!!!
Honestly sometimes it really is sad that telkom is the only provider of landlines and adsl. They have not even decided when they will roll out fiber in my area... When will they do that....? When the next best thing is out and fiber starts to become obsolete?
Kindly contact my mom, Mrs. K. B. Clive or my brother on ********** 120 with regard to this as a matter of urgency, as this kind of service is unacceptable. At least provide the customer with an idea of what the fault is with a proper time frame rather just provide them with an "I don't know when" response.
Thanks and Best Regards,
- Adele
