NO HAPPY ENDING WHEN DEALING WITH TELKOM

So I decided to get internet at home and after some investigation found that my only option was ADSL.

Compared some packages out there and found the UnCapped 10mb Promo Offer from Telkom. Month to Month at a good price.

So I contact Telkom sales and ordered the line. WHAT A MISTAKE.

The sales call was fast and efficient, I thought that was not too bad. This was the Tuesday last week.

Two days later a lady phoned me, a technician has been scheduled for the installation on Monday and got an SMS confirming this at the same time. I requested that the installation please be moved at Tuesday as no one will be home on Monday. Not a problem the installation was moved and I got an SMS confirming the date for Tuesday.

Happy with the service and that the line will be installed, I thought that this is actually good service. Just maybe Telkom is turning things around.

That was the last time I had such a thought.

On Sunday I get an SMS confirming the original appointment for Monday. As per the instructions on the SMS, I rep**** ********** I also logged on to the website and updated the appointment there.

Monday I get an SMS that a technician has been dispatched. WHAT…

No Idea if anybody actually showed up on Monday, I did not get any calls to say we are at your door.

So I phoned Telkom on Monday and advised that my booking is for the next day. Telkom reply, we are sorry but it does not look like we have any capacity on Tuesday. So after I explained that my original appointment was for Tuesday, they escalated the matter to the technical supervisor who will contact me to make arrangements, still waiting for that call.

On Tuesday no one shows up, big surprise….

So I phoned again Tuesday, 2 hours on the phone with them. Got placed on hold for 30 minutes and then the line cut. Got transferred from sales to technical because sales does not do the bookings. Got transferred back from technical to sales because sales has to do the bookings for new installations. Had to wait in the queue again for almost 20 minutes to speak to sales consultant and explain everything again.

Was promised that the supervisor will call me, still waiting for this call as well.

So this morning, Wednesday, I get a call from the technician advising that he is on his way to my house. Great news if you want to get arrested by the armed response. THERE IS NO ONE AT HOME….

So I spent another 1 and 10 minutes on the phone with their sales department. For the second day in a row there are no supervisors available. No one know where he is as he should be back from lunch (this was at 15:30) and the manager is also missing.

But they finally got hold of the technical guys, but they cannot help today.

What they did offer me is the following fantastic resolution as they did not show up as arranged on the Tuesday. Because it was my fault that I was not home on Wednesday so they are doing me a favour.

They have added my request to a basket so that the technicians that do decide to work on Friday (a public holiday) can see if they can get to the installation. If not maybe they can get to it on Saturday, I just need to make sure that there are some one at home for these days.

Unfortunately I have better things to do with my time than sit around and wait for a technician that might (I probably have the chance of winning the lottery) show up OVER A LONG WEEKEND.

So unless you want to have a 4 hour phone bill on your cell phone because your land line has not been installed, stay far far away.

NO HAPPY ENDING HERE!
