No coverage but still liable for payment

I recently moved to Langebaan in the Western Cape where there is no Telkom wifi coverage. I contacted Telkom and visited their Customer service office in Canal Walk to have the service cancelled. I was then contacted by a Service representative who informed me that I am liable for the cancellation penalty charge or that I need to continue with the contract until it expires. How is it possible to pay for something that I am not able to use? They also take NO responsibility from their side to provide coverage in the area. This would mean that I will have to pay double for internet charges as I need to pay two different service providers. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous!
