No confidence. This is not how you start a contract/business relationship.

I have just been through hell trying to get a 1GB Free me contract. I initially went into the Hatfield Mall Telkom shop on the 31st of July and asked what I needed to port a number and get a 1GB Free me contract. The helper told me that I needed to bring in my ID and a proof of residence. To which I promptly went to go fetch. When I came back they told me that their porting systems are down and they couldnt accommodate my request right then.

I then came back on the 1st of August and sat down with Joyce Kgoadi, Asking her to port my number from Vodacom to Telkom for a 1GB free me contract. She proceded to process my papers and at the end of it I asked her about the call tarrifs of the contract which she then started talking about data bundles. Confused, I asked her what she meant. To cut a long convoluted story short I then found that she only ported my number and that it wasnt on contract and that the current account type was a prepaid sim. This is the first transgression. I had waited 45 min in a queue and a further 30 min with her for a service that was only half done.

I asked her what I needed to complete the rest of the process to get my contract and she said I need to bring in a 3 month bank statement and my payslip.I retrieved this information and came back today, 2nd August. To complete the process. Again I stood in your exorbitant queues, This time Joyce was not available and I sat down with another consultant who then turned me away saying that my statmenets had to be stamped at the bank. To which I left in a huff again to fullfill the requirement AFTER NOT BEING TOLD INITIALLY THATS WHAT THEY NEEDED.

I got back from the bank to finally sit back down with Joyce who suddenly seemed confused about what was said. I set on trying to remind her of myself and I felt at this point it was best to inform her of my disattisfaction. After all this was the 3rd time i was there. The unbelievable thing is that she challenged me and told me I told her I only wanted to port. WHY THEN AM I BACK THERE FOR THE 3RD TIME??? I'm only back there because she didnt listen to me the first time round. At this point I lost my cool because she was effectively calling me a ****. I told her the fact that I'm sitting there means that she didnt listen to my request and I told her this is really "****" customer service. To which she got arrogant with me and told me that if I didnt stop being rude she wasnt going to help me. A small victory for her I'm sure.

Irate and short on time I told her just to get it done with now. After which the long application process started. She handed me an expenditure form to fill out and irritated with this, (As my statements tell all) I muttered under my breath and then told her that I didnt have much time and asked her how much longer the process is. To which she responded "I think you must find another consultant because you and I aren't getting along". The gall of her statement!

I took down her name and asked for her supervisors name, (Anna Van Vuuren) When she refused to help me further I asked for Anna. Then she took 10 min to fetch Anna and I asked the staff member to her right for Anna's email address because I really needed to go and I would like to make a formal complaint. With utter disrespect, possibly in solidarity with her rude colleague she mouthed off saying "we wont give you that information or any other customer" Where is the transparency here? Eventually Anna appeared and I recounted the same story. She apologied and seemed slightly unphased saying "I'm sorry IF Joyce indeed didn't hear you about requesting a contract" and "IF she didnt tell you that the statements need to be stamped." THIS IS NOT AN ALLEGATION!!!! I would not be back a 3rd time IF SHE LISTENED and gave me the correct information.

I asked Anna where I could make a formal complaint and she Gave me Andre Durant's number and email address, whom apparently is the Regional manager. But on top of this I asked how long is this all gonna take now because I really need to go. They told me I could come back later but i'll have to stand int he queue. I'm sorry. Telkom at this point has inconvenced me a number of times AND IT IS NOT MY FAULT so why do I have to stand in line? again? for another 45min? You must be joking. So as of now I have to go BACK to the same store for a fourth time. Stand there and waste even more time. All because these consultants have an aparrent disregard for the client and their own job? Time is money and this is the entry experince I have into a contract with Telkom? This sets the tone EXTREMELY BADLY for what I can expect with Telkom.

All I wanted was to give you money for the simplest service you offer. a 1GB free me contract. I fail to see how this is so difficult. So yes. I am tired and frustrated and do with this what you will. But this IS NOT THE WAY CLIENTS SHOULD BE TREATED!!!
