NO Business Telecoms lines for 4 days and counting
We are a Company using 2 x ISDN Channels which are supposed to be a Business Class service as well as an Analogue Fax Line. All these have been out of service since Monday this week i.e. we are now nearly at close of day 4 without any Telkom Lines. We reported the faults on Monday morning and only received an SMS confirming the faults being recorded in the mid-afternoon. Each day we phone to follow up and get nowhere regarding when the service might reasonably be restored and only on Day 4 did we find out that it is our whole area that is out due to cable theft. However this does not explain how a business in the same park still has ADSL although their Phones are also down. We understand Technicians were only allocated to work on the problem on the 3rd day of being down. Given Lockdown, Eskom's Load shedding and the pathetic service from Telkom it is proving to be extremely challenging to run a business in South Africa let alone increase business so as to provide more jobs hence I guess why steling cables is proving to generate more jobs than SME enterprises especially. It would be less of a frustration if there was some kind of interactive communication regarding progress or lack of on restoring services but it seems the management structures in Telkom are Firewalled from having to deal with clients large or small. If this is the case why is there no online progress reporting and projected completion times instead of just reporting faults. Personally if we do not have Telecom's by Day 5 Friday we will be moving to a VoIP Service provider and cancelling out Telkom lines and so another SOE heads for the drain.
