Night surfer data

Good day Very very bad service from telkom very disappointed in telkom I have about 8gig of night surfer data that expires at 5/12/21 so last night i thought im going to use this to download some movies at 12:30 am i started to download and went to sleep this morning i wake up and non of my night data was used and all my all network data was depleted so i phone telkom to report this and see what's the problem the operator cannot see whats wrong bit told me i need to switch to flight mode at 12am wait 1 min and switch back on so that it can convert to night surfer now this i never had to do and no where does it say you have to do this i asked if i could have my all network data back as this is an issue from telkom not me and i was told no i cant its used what is the reason to buy data with night surfer if i cannot use this night data i think this is unfair and false advertising from telkom very disappointing i will move to a different network for sure....... Telkom claims they the best network in SA...... No for sure they are not more of the biggest ***** and *********..... I will definitely lay a complaint with the ICASA
