Never go for Telkom

I received absolutely terrible service from both the Telkom store in Vaal Mall and the customer care centre. I purchased a new contract last month and was promised to receive 5 GB of promotional data each month till the end of my contract. It has been more than three weeks and I am yet to receive the data. I filed a request with the customer care centre and they have not gotten back to me with helpful information in spite of my numerous attempts to contact them and follow up on my request. They fail to realize that they are legally obligated to fulfill the terms of my contract, i.e. providing me the benefits as per my cellphone contract.

I went to the Vaal Mall Telkom store to do a number swap. They informed me that they are unable to to the number change in store and provided me with a reference number and told me to follow up with customer care. When I called customer care I was told that this reference number did not exist and the query was not filed.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with this mobile operator. Sure, I received a good deal however I have not had the opportunity to experience the benefits promised to me prior to signing up for the contract. I honestly suggest to anyone to go with MTN or Vodacom, you'll pay more but experience worth while service and a good customer experience. You deal with agents who actually give a damn about their job and customers. This is exactly why Telkom is so well known for having the worst service.
