my TelkomSA landline was deactivated even though the rental is paid for the year and I have was told that I must pay pay more money and take a new package regardless of being paid up for the year, this cant be legal!!!!
My name is Roshilla Archery and I am now at my wits end with Telkom, my land line at my home which we have had for more than 20 year was recently deactivated, the rental for the line in question was paid up for the entire year of which only 4 months have passed. when I went into the telkom store at Midlands mall in pietermaritzburg to enquire as to why my line was locked and no longer reachable I was told that due to the line not having CLI(caller line identity) active it was deactivated. As I understand it CLI is a VAS service that as a customer and a pensioner, i can choose to add on to my line and is in no way mandatory, I was also told that it is no longer possible to get my number back, my number of more than 20 years, the number that most of my family and friends have listed for me, my number for which the rental for the year was already paid.
but it did not end there, the consultant then attempted what I can only describe as ******ion, I was told that if I take a new more expensive package they would be able to reactivate my line on a new sim, and that it was the only way I can get my line back with the same number.
so on top of robbing me for the remainder of my line rental period they have basically said to me that they will not assist me to get back the line that has been paid for and is legally and rightfully mine unless I pay them more of my money. this is the treatment and service I, a 66 year old woman have recieved from telkom and this has not been my only negative experience with them.
all I want is my number back and my line operational as it should be without being fleeced for more money.
I don't think that this is unreasonable but withvmy experience in these matters, especially where telkom is involved, Im quite sure that this matter will not even reach a concerned ear.
there was a time when quality service and and ethical business practices were the gold standard in a competitive service driven industry like this, and perhaps there are other service providers that still maintain these values, but I have not experienced anything close to it from telkom.
