My Telkom 4Meg line ***) down but expected to pay for it

In short:

My line was active for one day and I am asked to pay more than R800.00 for it; why?

In detail:

I app**** and struggled get my ADSL Telkom 4Meg line installed; when it was eventually installed I received a message on the 6th of April 2016 saying that I will be billed pro-rata from (2016/04/06), the line went down the very next day (2016/04/07) and a fault was logged on my behalf on (2016/04/08) with refence number 108CWK***6 and the line never worked after that.

As time went on without service I kept getting notification messages from Telkom and private technians would come and tell me that they did their part and that it was left to Telkom to send their own technicians to finish the job and that the issue was cable theft or ****** cable; this went on until I realized that the month was ending without me getting service and due to worrying that I may end up having to pay for a dead line I decided to submit a service cancellation on the last week of April 2016.

I then repeatedly received a message from Telkom that due to repeated cable incidents in my area Telkom had decided to offer me an alternative solution, that details would be shared shortly and that never happened. Following this I got a message on 10 May 2016 that my line was in arrears with R535.58 and and another came saying I was owing Telkom more than R800.00 for a service that was active only for one day; and one of the questions that I would like to ask is what am I really paying or expected to pay for here? Mind you that I have already spent more than R1000.00 on a router and a Telephone for a non working service.

Mzwamadoda C. Fongqo
***
***

Reviewer Update
Today I just received a message from Telkom stating that my service has been restored and that I should call 10210 or 10217 if its not; can anyone see the irony in this? My service is still down let alone my application and a couple of Cape Town Telkom Shop visits to have it cancelled.
