Multiple Requests to Cancel ADSL & Internet Service Ignored, Still Being Billed 10 Months later

AS many other HelloPeter users have reported, I too am one of those idiot consumers who Telkom continues to bill even though I have diligently followed each and every one of their ridiculous service cancellation requirements FOUR times over the past 10 months.

Since May 2017 I have been trying to cancel my residential ADSL line and my Telkom Internet package. I have spoken to numerous Customer "Service" agents, all of whom have either been completely ******** of the process, or who have given me patently incorrect, inaccurate, or out-of-date information. I have submitted the required Service Cancellation Forms and identity documentation via email. In return I have received absolutely nothing from Telkom, other than the standard automated "your issue will be addressed within 21 days" nonsense replies.

I fully intended to take up Telkom Fibre to replace my ADSL line, but was not prepared to pay for both at the same time. Telkom's complete disinterest in customer service forced me to eventually subscribe to an alternate fibre ISP. And yet I've still been the idiot paying Telkom for services I no longer use or want, and which I have requested cancellation of months ago.

Well no more Telkom! I categorically refuse to pay for your incompetence any longer. You can keep charging me, and keep adding up the outstanding balance on my account, and you can eventually disconnect the line, and hand me over, and threaten legal action for the unpaid bill, and do all of the idiotic things you do to turn your long-standing clients against you. (Be sure to bring all of the reasons why you've ignored my, and many others', cancellation requests with you to court.) Whatever you do, know that I will no longer be paying for either of the 2 services that I have formally cancelled.

Should my cancellation request continue to be ignored, and should my account be billed again for these services at the end of this month, my next step will be to lodge the NCC Compliant Form that I have completed in terms of my rights under the Consumer Protection Act to the National Consumer Commission. In my complaint I will be requesting not only that Telkom action their end of our contract and cancel the services as requested, but also that a full refund of the 9 months of *******ly charged services be made to me. (I'm nothing if not considerate, so if a credit against my account is easier for you, that'll do too.)

For completeness, copies below the response just made by Telkom on my original post. 23 days to respond. Not too sure, why they reply privately-there is nothing in the response that is confidential other than perhaps a reference number. At the end of the day, it’s nothing more than a standard boiler plate copy and paste platitude. I’m not holding my breath... “Official private business reply Hello [user-name] This response serves as confirmation that your query has been received. Your reference number : [ref number] Your query has been sent to our fulfillment team for assistance. Regards Noleen Telkom Social Media Team.”
