Much more of a Big **** than a Big Deal

On 30 September, I go to Telkom and sign up for a data contract because I can't get fibre where I live. Trust me, it took me years to decide to dance with the devil. But Telkom has changed, right? It's marketing itself as the best mobile service provider, the mobile provider of choice, and it has the data deals to prove it -- or so it says.

So I sign up for a 20 GB + 20 GB (night surfer) package. I am told the night surfer data runs from 00h00-07h00 every night of the week. I download the Huawei app for the router to monitor data consumption. I check the consumption by using the 192 IP address too. I disconnect my wifi connector, so there are no hidden surprises with middle-of-the-night background downloads.

I get to almost 17 GB consumption, and you send me 37 SMSs to tell me I have reached my bundle threshold. Then you promptly cut me off. How on earth is that possible? My daytime data is 20 GB; my nighttime data is 20 GB. I have used a COMBINED 17 GB, and you cut me off on 29 October. So, in effect, you have ****med me out of 23 GB of data that I have paid for already and now have lost.

Is this a big ****? Do you wish to tell me that there isn't 20 GB nighttime data included in the package that you sold me? Even so -- and this would be the worst type of false advertising -- I still got nowhere near the 20 GB allocation. Please explain this to me.

I wish it wasn't so, but it has taken only 29 days for you to confirm that Telkom really is Hellkom, that a leopard doesn't change its spots, that I clearly have made the wrong decision, and now I am stuck with this package that evidently doesn't deliver what it promises. I just want what I pay for.

My account number is: ********** 69.

Kindly explain to me, via email, as I cannot take calls at work, how you can simply cut off my access if I have plenty of data left.
