Moving is the easy part, moving a telkom line would end up to be a completely different story...

To whom it might concern

I would like to share this review not only to simply get a resolution on my problem but also to share my disappointing experience with moving a 20-year-old line with xDSL to a new property.

Around the 28th of March, I requested that my line to be moved from Hartbee****rt Dam to Equestria in Pretoria East online. This was followed by silence and no communication at all.
The request was clearly marked that the service should be stopped at the old property on the 12th of April and the new service at the new property resume on the 13th or the closest to it.

After getting no confirmation or communication for a couple of days all of the sudden out of the blue I receive an SMS stating the appointment to be Friday the 7th of April.
This struck me as odd as I asked for the 11-13th as there is no access to the new property before that, I simply elected to phone 10210 and ask what is going on only to get vague answers and no assistance that should the technician install on the new property on the 7th the old service would still work until the 12th at the old property.

I was then offered the option to move the appointment date to the 11th and that was confirmed again after the phone call with 10210 via SMS.
Since the appointment was an all day appointment I arranged that there be access and someone on site for Tuesday 11th only to find the appointment was canceled with no good reason or just even an SMS informing me. I had to phone 10210 again to find out where is the technician? I then was given a new date again of the 13th of April once again an all day appointment that was once again not met and nobody came to install the line after getting a second reminder SMS the day before to say I must be on site with a copy of my ID document and the address of the new installation and that I should reply "Yes" if it is in order (I did reply with no response after that)

By 11:00 on Thursday the 13th I phoned 10210 to hear if a technician had actually been assigned to the order and if he is on the way and what time to more or less expect him whereby I was placed on hold so that the consultant could phone the technician, She came back on the line saying that he said he would be there around 12:00.

By 16:30 that afternoon fuming already I phoned again only to be told a completely different unbelievable story! My order was already amended the day before on Wednesday the 12th and the appointment date was moved for the 3rd time to Friday the 21st of April!!
With no phone call or SMS giving an explanation such as for example there are no ports available etc. From my side, I cannot understand why it is such a big problem to get the line installed? The Willows exchange is 800m away in the same street. The physical cables and jacks are already installed as the previous owners had 10 Mbps ADSL.

The latest date given is not acceptable not after giving notice well in advance and also being very cooperative with phoning in multiple times from my side to check and make sure all is in order and making sure people were available to assist the technician multiple times.

Kind Regards
Louis Minnaar
