Monopoly of Telkom
I am a business owner that uses a telkom line for my company. My Telephone, internet and paypoint machine is dependant on this line. The line was suspended and I made payment promptly. I went to a telkom branch close to me to have the line reconnected. I was told that it takes between 24 and 48 hours. I explained to them that this is a business and 48 hours is a lot of business lost. I was then told that Telkom is doing this to discourage late payments. When I called the call centre I spoke to a lady from the Cape Town call centre, Whasima, Supervisor at this centre. She told me that I shouldn't waste their time. And that I should go back to the telkom branch and ask them to connect my line. I told her that they are rude and I need to speak to het supervisor. She then placed me on hold forever. I called back and basically received the same service from a different call centre.Telkoms monopoly is really getting out of hand. The fact that Proof of payment was provided and that I am running a business should be enough for them to be more speedily. But they implemented this strategy to punish businesses which does not make sense.Cause they own the lines they can do what ever they want
