Misselling and poor service

Good day my name is Khanyi Mkhize, last year end of October I took a contract with telkom. The consultant that called me told me about the special that they were having, she told me that I will not be paying in November the 1st installment will go off on 20th December.

Plase bear in mind I had an existing contract that was debiting on my mom's account, after she passed on we decided that my sister was going to take over and I submitted her capitec bank statement to create a debit order. This was done before I took the new contract.

Beginning of November telkom blocked the contract, I went to telkom shop the told me I needed to pay a certain amount in order to reinstate the contract I went and pay cash at checkers and contract was reinstated.

Beggining of November contract was blocked, I called in and asked the consultant to check why the contract was blocked because the first installment is supposed to take on the 20th November and I even asked her if she knows about the special that they were running she agreed and apologied contract was reinstated.

20th of November they did not debit and again in December no debit. I went to Telkom shop they said they can't help me because I took the contract on the phone. Beginning of January contract was blocked until today. I called Telkom and the consultant told me that I am owing R1200 that includes installment for November, December and January and penalties for not paying. He advise me to call customer care and request a recording because I felt that I was missold the product.

I called customer care and the lady that helped me said she will open a complain for further investigation. 2 weeks later I received a call from the gentleman told me that they have investigated I will not be paying for November and I asked about the penalties he said they will be waived. I asked him to check how much do I need to pay so that my account will be up to date and have my data reinstated he told he won't have such information I need to call the billing department.

2days later I called billing they check and the amount owing was still the same R1200. Then on Friday 18th February I called the again and asked the consultant to escalate matter as I was promised November and penalty fees will be waive. Same day at night they sent me an sms told me that unfortunately I have to pay for November installment and the amount owing has went up to R1637 for what, I d] ont know, because this contract was blocked beginning of January

I did not keep names and references for the calls that I was making to Telkom, only for the last call spoke to Ntokozo at billing department reference no ***1.

I am willing to pay for December and January installments only. Even if the contract can be terminate I will be happy because I feel like I was misled and no one is taking responsibility for the service failure. This has caused so much inconvenience and frustration being moved around from one department to the next
