I will omit the name of the sales representative whom I was dealing with at the Telkom Bayside branch.

On the 4th of May 2016 my laptop crashed and I was in urgent need of a replacement. I then decided to apply for the a core i5 laptop contract (illustrated in the attached image). At the Telkom Bayside store I specifically mentioned that the matter was urgent and that if Telkom could not arrange stock by that Friday (06/05/2016) I would need to make use of another supplier. The sales representative contacted other stores in the area and informed us that he would source one for me by that Friday.

On that Friday afternoon the sales representative contacted my girlfriend (on the contact number we provided) and informed her that I was approved though he was not able to successfully source the item and that he would still try to source it as soon as possible. On Sa****ay the 7th of May 2016 we went into the Bayside branch once again to find out if any progress had been made as the urgency of the matter was progressing. At this point we were informed that the sales representative we initially dealt with was in a back office and could not get back to us with feedback. We were however informed by another representative that he did not know when Telkom would be receiving more stock of the ordered item.

As none of your branches seem to have working telephone numbers we were forced to go to the branch on the following Monday & Tuesday in which we tried to receive feedback from the sales representative that initially told us we would receive the device on Friday if I was approved. On Tuesday we were told by another representative that there should be a bulk shipment coming in by the middle of the month, though he could not inform us to the progress of the initial sales representative in regards to sourcing the item as apparently each sales representative takes certain files home with them, etc. We went into Bayside on the Wednesday thereafter (1 week later on 11/05/2016) and were finally able to persuade the sales staff to either let us speak to the initial sales representative that for some reason was always in a back room/office or speak to a manager. After another 15 minutes of waiting, we finally got to speak to the sales representative. He informed us that coming to the store each day will only make us angry and that he was unable to source stock of the ordered item and that Telkom will only receive stock at the end of the month.

At this point you can already see that we were **** to, avoided and misinformed. Our time and resources also seem to not be of concern to Telkom staff members.

On Sa****ay the 14th of May 2016 I received an SMS stating that my device was ready for collection. Shortly thereafter we arrived at the Bayside branch to collect the device. I was assisted by a representative standing next to the initial sales representative I dealt with. The initial sales representative informed the representative that was assisting me which device he must fetch and showed him how to finalize the order. I assumed that he was a new hire in training. The representative that was assisting me then gave me a document in which I was asked to verify if the items I received were correct and if I wanted device insurance, etc. At this point the items were behind the representative on a chair. I had pointed out in the booklet to the contract option I had chosen and he had confirmed that everything was in order. I proceeded to sign the contract and he handed me the device and a slip/receipt.

After returning home, I noticed that the device only had 4GB RAM and not 8GB RAM as advertised, I also did not find the Microsoft Office Home Premium 365 on the device. There was only a trial version of the advertised software on the device. Within an hour I returned to the Bayside branch and informed the initial sales representative that there was a mistake with the issuing of my device. I was then told that the booklet allows for errors and omissions, and that he had intended to notify me of the specifications when I collected the device, but unfortunately I was assisted by someone else. I ordered the laptop for its specifications. Errors and omissions should be declared before the application process, credit checks and DEFINITELY before I take the item home. This is misrepresentation to say the least. I wanted to return the device and I was told that Telkom no longer deals with the devices after they are collected and that he would get me a number for Lenovo. At this point I walked out of the store and returned home. As I returned home, I also noticed that the slip/receipt indicated that I was on a 1GB package. I app**** for the 500MB package. Before I signed the aforementioned form, I directly pointed out in the booklet to the package I ordered and the sales representative confirmed. (This should also be visible from the 2 cameras in the rear left of the store.)

As I am now stuck using this slow laptop and cannot really afford any further downtime. I have an internet package I never ordered and definitely do not need.
