I visited Telkom Tyger Valley store on 22 June to cancel my Telkom line and Adsl line.
A Representative named Brent assisted me. I wanted to settle the balance but was advised to rather settle on 30 June as there were recurring amounts still to be calculated.
I understood that the line and Adsl was cancelled on 1 Jul as I received sms confirmation and adsl and line was disconnected.
On 19 Oct I was contacted by a telkom rep indicating that I still owe them an amount due, yet I have settled the balance on 30 June as advised.
It was discovered that Brent has NOT informed me that there is a 30 day notice period and should I cancel at a specific date within the 30 day period I will Still be liable for a notification fee and won't receive the service from the date of cancellation.
When I visited the branch on 27 Oct to inquire why I was Not properly informed I was notified by both the que line rep as well as the Store Manager that it is a Billing problem, they cannot assist and I should contact 10210 to resolve.
This clearly shows me that the Store rep and Manager was attempting to protect a rep that caused malpractise by Not informing a client properly about the cancellation terms
