Miscommunication and inconsistency

We decided to move over to Webafrica. My husband went into Telkom Head Office on the 21 July 2017 to cancel subscription. They gave him form, which he should email to cancellation address to cancel everything according to the store manager. So he did and contract was cancelled on the 17th August 2017.

End of August they sent him a bill, he contested that the account is closed so why need for bill (ref nr: ********** 9). Said she would remove the addition to the August bill, but still had a R1000 outstanding on July bill. Asked her to use the R700 credited on his account and send outstanding fee to him. Which he never got, assuming everything was settled. She would also log a call with HR in Pretoria w.r.t the query and again was told we didn't need a line with Telkom.

End of December received an R2200 bill, when we phoned in after our internet line was cut. It would seem that we still needed an Telkom line, after moving over to Webafrica, something the branch manager told us we didn't need...as everything would be transferred to Webafrica. This we owed the R1000 of July she didn't deduct, the R250 sign up fee and line fees of R214 for past months we didn't pay.

Then he received a phone call from Pretoria, HR, confirming that our line was canceled since July, but still owed this R2200 as the first consultant didn't deduct the R700 as per request (which still lies in credit on our account). Then again confirmed that we don't need a phone line after amount has been paid. They came to an agreement that a minimum fee of R250 would be paid until amount paid off.

Last week (mid-January), received a voice note advising the line would be disconnected in 48 hours. Phoned to dispute and would seem HR lady didn't put any of the agreement on the system and if we don't pay R1600 by end of January our line would once again be disconnected. The salesperson on the other hand, wanted us to go through our phone to find the HR number and sort it out with them, as he couldn't find the same information as they did on the system. After being asked if he couldn't add it to the system.

Now we between a wall and a rock place. Do we a pay an amount, we tried to prevent in the first place (asking questions, follow-up, etc). My husband need internet, as he is constantly on call for work, I am self-employed. Why are we being the ones who is punished for people who don't know their processes and update systems accordingly?

They rep**** already and this is what i had to say to them on FB. {Telkom is bullies. We closed our account in July and moved over to Webafrica. Asked the consultant if we owe anything and do we need a phone line. She said no...6 months later we get a bill of R2000 and threat that our internet will be put off which we did. Arrangement for payments made, only due to my husband always being on call and need internet. Just to be told 2 weeks later that we didn't...then they hit you with the line "That is what we have i have on my system". Well it seem that every person we talk to have something different on their system. Up to now, no apologize made for their part in all of this confusion. Had to get the money from somewhere...now it's been a week and still can't put on our internet. Apparently this consultant found a new payment, that she finds on "her system" that needs to be paid before it can be switched on. Bullies need to be dealt with...let's see what the consumer act can do about all this. If Game can phone you for R40 every 2nd week, why are you so transparent.}
