Telkom Customer Service,
I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding ******** debit order of R952.40 on Friday 24th of April 2026 as well as *****ulent activity linked to an LTE router account that I did not authorize.
It has come to my attention that an LTE router contract was opened under my name without my consent and is associated with a contact number that does not belong to me. This constitutes identity misuse and unauthorized account creation. Furthermore, Telkom has been debiting my bank account without lawful authorization, which is both unacceptable and ********. Worst I'm currently unemployed the money debited is my grocery money. I have requested that a waybill be given to me so I can see the signature but Telkom could not provide me with those details.
Your actions are in direct contravention of several South African laws:
The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, which protects consumers against unfair, unreasonable, and unjust business practices. The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, which governs lawful electronic agreements and consent. The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), which mandates the lawful processing and protection of personal information. The National Credit Act 34 of 2005, which requires proper verification and consent before entering into credit agreements.
I demand the following actions be taken immediately:
A full investigation into how this LTE router account was opened under my name without my authorization. Immediate cancellation and closure of the *****ulent account and any associated debit orders. A full refund of all monies ********ly debited from my account IMMEDIATELY! Written confirmation that my personal details have been secured and will not be misused further. A formal explanation detailing how this breach occurred and what corrective measures will be implemented to prevent recurrence.
Please treat this matter with urgency. Should this issue not be resolved within 7 (seven) working days from receipt of this letter, I will have no alternative but to escalate the matter to the relevant authorities, including the National Consumer Commission, the Information Regulator, and pursue legal action if necessary.
This situation has caused significant inconvenience and financial distress and I expect immediate corrective action.
Kindly acknowledge receipt of this complaint and provide me with a reference number for tracking purposes.
Yours faithfully, Nozipho
