Lying telesales people

My LTE broadband contract was set to expire 30 June 2017. I went into the telkom shop and was advised that if I took no action, the contract would simply cut over to month-to-month. I was quite happy with this. Then about a week before the expiry date a telkom telesales person phoned me and advised me that if I let the contract lapse I would end up paying much more on month to month because it had been a special offer for which the terms would expire. In order to save me from this fate, he suggested I needed to upgrade which I duly did. I received a new router and sim card and on the 1st of July and tried putting the new sim card in my old router, not wanting to mess up my network config. It did not work, I then put my old sim card back in which worked fine. I went back to the telkom to give them back the router and sim card, but they could not take it because it had been couriered out and had to be returned that way. I phoned the call centre and they said I had to log a dispute with some company called selldirect. I did this and was advised that they would listen to my call to work out if their salesperson had **** to me. A week or two later they called me back to advise me that the call had been reviewed by their training department who had said it was within their guidelines ??? I asked the guy who phoned me back, exactly how much more I would have paid had I let it cut over to month to month and he would not tell me. He also said that the sim card had been activated and that it therefore could not be reversed by them. I told him to take me off their database and never phone me again. So figuring I was stuck with this router contract, I put the sim card in and plugged it in and as of today 18th July, it still does not connect to the telkom network so in my mind is not activated in any way that I can work out. My old router and sim card are happily working away, but I am in fact paying more for that service. So basically my view is that the telkom shop staff are honest but that their telesales division are biggest bunch of lying ******* on the planet conning people into unnecessary contract extensions.

Hi

Thanks, I got a call from one of the technical guys informing me that the reason the reason the new sim card wasn't activated was because they "upgrade" the old one. To my mind this further reinforces the redundancy of upgrading, especially when you get a router which is worse than the one you had ?? On the other hand, two sim cards are useful to me because I can use the second one at work where our internet link is rather pedestrian. So first prize for me would have been going on to month to month, getting a second sim card and a mifi router and converting my vodacom voice line over to telkom and having all of this on a single combined voice & data contract. So I have now activated the second sim card sent to me and am using the second router at the office. If I could just add voice to this I wouldn't feel so bad about being stuck in another 24 month contract. To be fair, it seems Telkom are the service provider showing the most signs of moving in this direction but apparently won't do multisim on FreeMe.
