LTE Internet Early Cancellation

HI,

I have always had ADSL unitl I was forced to moved to a newly developed area. I went to Telkom to assist me with a new landline, but they informed me that there is no landlines in that area and that my only alternative will be to go with there LTE package which was covered in my area. I informed the sales person that this will be mostly for Online Gaming and I have heard that the stability is a BIG issue. He told me he also uses it for games and that it works fine and sometime better then ADSL. I decided to take the deal from them since there was NO alternative, and NO ETA on the development of ADSL/FIBRE in this area. Its been almost a year now and I am in the process of purchasing a new Apartment where I have a option of having Fibre installed at a MUCH better price for better speed & stability . After having a chat with Tshepiso Laurettah Gagathiba, one of Telkom's online sale's person, she informed me of all the steps to take in connection with cancellation, after this she also told me that their will be penalties involved in early cancellation. So after asking her what this will be, she told me that it will be the Remainder of the Months on the contract ( 12 ) * Monthly payment ( R999 ) + R800 administration fee's.. I meen this is the full amount of the remainder of my contract + R800 how is this possible?? How can this be a realistic amount to pay??

Hopefully someone can get back to me regarding this, as it makes no sense why someone would cancel something that is going to cost them more to just keep. Somehow there needs to be a meeting halfway?? Or a reasonable fee to pay??

Kind Regards Breet Coetzer

HI Launa, Sorry that I had to do this on Hello Peter, but your sales team is REALLY not very helpful when it comes to these type of scenarios. I work out of country which makes this even harder for me to resolve. I have a international Skype number which I would preferred to be contacted on, but if not available my cellphone number also work. Skype International : *** Cell: *** LTE Sim Number: *** Telkom *** Also I would like to add, if this was a cellphone contract I could understand that the costs of the phone must be recovered, but this a LTE Modem that was given to me, which I am happy to pay the remainder of the costs, so Telkom will only be loosing the Data Package. Kind Regards

Shocking to see how this problem is still not resolved. Debit order still goes off my account and I still have internet which I don't want. This issue has been haunting me since: A review of Telkom by PBCoetzer89 on 18 Sep 2017
