LOCKDOWN DISASTER!!!!!
I have had a contract with Telkom since October 2019 and never had a problem. A few months ago I lost my job at the peak of the Covid-19 onslaught. Not wanting to let this account go into arrears I started paying at the PNP Kiosk rather than by Debit order until I started getting UIF payments into my bank account. First month I paid double because the debit order was also taken off, a query was placed and I let it go as it would take 21 days to reverse the transaction and then the account would be due for payment again. The next month I received a credit, all well. The month after I paid again at the PNP Kiosk on 27/10/2020, and on 31/10/2020 another debit order went through, this time however the bank rejected the payment as there were no funds available. Then I received notification that my account was in arrears with R602.00, the R399.00 I paid on 27/10/2020 as well as the R202.70 penalty charged by Telkom for the returned payment. The bank also levied R110.00 for the same. I made several calls to Telkom and with all was promised it would be sorted out. I also called into Telkom Knysna twice after constant sms messages telling me my account is in arrears and with threats to disconnect my number. and still. I called in at Telkom Knysna to try and resolve this and received a reference number for the case, I confirmed that my next payment would be 15/12/2020 since I updated the date for payments. Telkom tried to take another payment which have added another penalty fee of R202.70 more to my account, as well as R330.00 in fees with my bank. Now I have lost my cool and my next visit will not be as pleasant as the past ones.
