Line FAULTS since early December - TELKOM Hardly cares but I still HAVE TO PAY

REF: Telkom Account no: ********** 52758

Up until November 2016, I had been happily using my DSL line at sync rates of up to 8mbps.
Some time during early December 2016, the line sync rate dropped down to about 1 Mbps. This lasted for about t a week when the line completely stopped working for about 2 weeks until January 2017. During which time I was forced to make use of VERY costly mobile internet services.

Since the line was "fixed" early 2017, I was still not able to reach sync rates much higher than 1 Mbps.
I have been logging calls and escalations with Telkom via Afrihost since then almost every week. And subsequently almost every week I would receive an SMS claiming that the problem has been resolved and I I would refer Telkom to a friend. (***).

On a couple of occasions, a Telkom representative called me to confirm whether the problem has been resolved. I keep telling them that it has NOT BEEN resolved.

During this time I have been told that the exchange is to far from my house, and I have to downgrade my line. I subsequently downgraded from a 10 Mbps line to an 8 Mbps. Again I was told that the exchange is too far from my house, and I have to downgrade my line. Again I opt for the downgrade to 4mbps, purely out of desperation. Subsequently, I am told AGAIN that the exchange is too far from my house and I should DOWNGRADE AGAIN to 2mpbs. At this point, I am losing my comfort.

Late February, early March was the FIRST time a Telkom technician arrived at the complex, firstly only to the exchange box down the road, NOT ONCE stopping at my house to test the line from there. After another week of up and down communications, another Telkom technician arrived this time to the house to test the line.

The result supposedly a line fault between my house and the exchange and underground teams need to be tasked to investigate and repair the problem.

And DURING ALL THIS, I am still FORCED TO PAY!!! for WHAT, for the INCOMPETENCE that is TELKOM to not have any motivating to fix the problem.

I will be switching to a new service provider VERY SOON, Telkom I hope you lose business, unfortunately, you are parastatal and not a single employee nor shareholder gives a drop in the ocean whether Telkom fails or NOT.

@Afrihost, I am quite dissapointed in you as well. I have to constantly follow up with you to escalate and followup on the fault at Telkom.
