Almost a month ago I reported a fault on my phone line. Since then, I have heard nothing from Telkom technicians (who keep closing the case without a site visit) or anybody else I try to appeal to at Telkom. The problem has worsened to the point where the line is dead. Yet the technicians insist it's fine. Every time i call, I'm told I'll be called back - this never happens. I've been in touch with five different people already. I've spend hours on the phone, in queues and corresponding by email. I've had 4 reference numbers. I'm told most of them 'don't exist' (which is weird, because Telkom employees gave them to me) and I don't know what to do. Incidentally, I'm being charged for a service I'm not receiving, so this negligence is tantamount to theft.

Good day jess-henson

Really, Telkom? REALLY?

After many telephone calls to the lovely Vivienne, the matter is finally concluded. She was a star, 100% thorough and did everthing she said she would swiftly and efficiently. <3
However, I want nothing to do with Telkom ever again. Besdies the weeks of being told 'there isn't a problem' by the technicians who refused to visit theh residence, in all, it took two whole days of my professional time to handle this issue on the phone and in person (which equates to much more than the amount that was eventually refunded). This has happened with every single account I've ever held with Telkom which is by now... at least 5. It's always days of wasted time, paid for service not honoured, delayed refunds, long stories from technicians who won't listen, etc. And yet, if you don't pay on time they'll happily whack you with penalty fees, or lawyers letters (Yes, I've been there too, R2k lawyer's fees that I had to pay for a R100 oustanding... because Telkom failed to follow my instructions wrt my new contact details!). I know I'm not alone in this underwhelming customer experience.
My advice to anyone with ANYthing other than a balance request for Telkom is to go work through Hello Peter. Do not pass begin, do not collect karma, do not bother with their appalling dinosaur of a system, their version of customer care, and their iffy technical "support".
MONOPOLIES are bad for service.
I'm done.
(thanks, tho, Vivienne, you're a star)
