***** and *******

on the 18th of December I received a call from a sales lady offering me a deal for unlimited telkom to telkom voice minutes, I informed her that I will only take it if its unlimited to all networks to which she said I could make calls to other networks. She then said its a month to month contract and I could cancel anytime I want I just needed to give them a month's notice. When the sim card arrived I realised that the sim card was for telkom to telkom only. I went to the Telkom branch at Mall at Reds to cancel the contract, firstly the machine that issues numbers was not on. 2, the lady who was helping me did not have a name tag on and did not bother to give me her name. she then said she was trying to call the cancellations department and when she could not get through she sent an email in my presence and said they would contact me. The following day I called the contact centre to get progress and i was told there was no request on my account, the agent said it was late to cancel and I would be liable to penalties to which I objected because 2 telkom staff members did not do their jobs properly. He said he would email the cancellations department and also escalate the matter to the sales lady's manager but refused to cc me in the emails. He then transferred me to the supervisor on duty named Musa who said for operational reasons I could not be cc'd in internal emails. He also said he would email the cancellations department to cancel the contract and waiver the penalties based on the fact that the sales lady **** to me and that the lady at the Mall @Reds branch failed to cancel the contract as I had requested her to. He then said he would send me an email confirming what we spoke about an what he did to get the process started. He then advised that I would be contacted to complete everything.

Two days pasted without hearing anything from Telkom. I went back to the branch at Mall at Reds and didn't find the lady that helped me the previous week. After they could not determine who had helped me, another lady assisted me but could not see any cancellation request on my account and told me that if the sale was done online the branch can not cancel the contract, something that the first lady at the same branch failed to tell me. She then sent a request to the cancellations department and said that's all she could do. Today I received a call from the cancellations department and and I spoke to Steven who offered me another package for me to stay on with Telkom to which I refused because if failed to get it right the first time I did not have confidence with whatever they could offer. He then wanted to offer me free data or voice calls as a form of apology, I also rejected whatever they were offering me and told him I will only accept the cancellation and waivering of penalties as a form of apology. He then said he does not have such powers and when I requested to speak to his manager he told me the manager was busy but would request a call back. I asked him to send me an email confirming our conversation but I still have not received it. Steven still insists that I will be penalised for cancelling my contract 'prematurely' where else it was not my fault.
