Let me go

Where do I begin?

I signed up for the 10gig data package. But on 6 November I went to your Greenstone branch and asked to be upgraded to the 20gig package. I was advised that there will be a prorata rate added onto my next bill. However, since I already paid for the 10gig package, I still had about 6gig daytime and about 8gig night time data remaining on the gig data plan. In addition, I now also had the 20gig day and nightime data from the newly activated 20gig package.

Rightfully, since i already paid for the 10gig plan, I should only be charged for the prorata 20gig as well as the 20gig for december. This should amount to bo more than R900 for my end November bill.

When I was debited at the end of November, it was only R299. Which is the sum for the 10gig plan that I am no longer subscribed to.

Imagine my absolute surprise when my bill came and I am being charged R1865.61! Of which R1283.28 is accredited to "data usage". Upon investigation into my data tracker, it appears that I the data charge is for the remaining 6 and 8 gig of the 10gig data plan (which I already paid for).

Your call centre staff advised that this is for the R500 "overdraft". Meaning that, should I run out of data, it will default to a R500 overspend budget. I do not recall allowing this!!! Nor do I recall any warning stating that I'm using out of bundle data.

In fact, whenever I ran out of data on the 10gig plan and I tried using the internet, i was met with an "out of data" warning screen on the device from which I was trying to access the internet.

I also checked my data tracker regularly throughout this time. Every time I accessed the internet, it would take the data from my remaining 6gig (from the 10gig plan). Only once it was depleted, did it start using the data from the 20gig plan.

Telkom advised that they are investigating the matter.

However, trying to access my router 10 December, i discovered that I am no longer able to surf the web.

I tried accessing my profile on their website, which now states "no associated data found"

Which tells me that you just decided to stop providing me with the services that we entered into a contract to.

I simply cannot, nor will I accept this kind of abuse! I was happy with the plan with Telkom. But if this is how I am going to be ******, I will need to look at other options.

If Cell C is reading this, PLEASE GIVE ME A CALL!

Registered to Hendrik Potas.

Turns out all I had to do is post a complaint on Hellopeter.com.

Telkom has since corrected the erronous bill and only charged what was rightfully owed.
