Lazy Technicians
<p>We have been requesting for Telkom line with ADSL to be wired to our "new" house in Belgate Tongaat for over a year now and still to this day nothing has been done about it. </p> <p> </p> <p>There are poles not even 50m away from us, yet we are given the story there is no lines available. I have come to a point where I believe the technicians are being spoilt to much or something is amiss.</p> <p> </p> <p>It takes 1 to 2 poles to be set, and a wire to be run to sort this out, but no, there isnt any lines.</p> <p> </p> <p>What you going to do about it Telkom?</p> <p> </p>

Had a call from a agent in Cape Town, poor ****** had to appologize on behalf of Telkom in Tongaat and he doesnt even know who they are...
He tells me that he will get a technician to look into the matter, however we are still waiting for said technician to come to our premisis and resolve the issue.
I beleive an email / phone call or even sms from a Technicain to say he/she is doing something about it would be one step closer.
There are 100s of households in this area that have requested telkom lines and have not, had any joy with Telkom. There are residents that have been here for over 15years and still nothing has been done about it. With a R25 bn developement happending next door to Tongaat within the next 10 years, you want to tell me that will not get telephone lines?
I receive emails from ISPs about Fibre to Home stories, yet this town still hasnt even got a bush telegraph yet!
Telkom just wants to sell their overpriced LTE packages as a solution.
How hard is it to get an Uncapped ADSL line to my house from a pole that is less than 50m away?

24 Jan 2019, 09:37Well, its not 24 Jan 2019, 3 years later, still waiting for a technician to rock up at the household to investigate.... now as the saying goes "ITS THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAY" mys I now go ***** some copper wire to get attention, seems to be the only thing that working in the country...
