Landline Installation

I was told that my fixed landline would be installed on 10 March and that this could be at any time between 08:00 and 17:00.

The consultant that I dealt with told me that the technician would phone me between 07:00 and 12:00 on the day of the installation. I left work at 11:15 and phoned Telkom (10213). The first consultant ensured me that the technician would contact me soon.

During the second phone call I asked the consultant to check if they have my correct cell number and she saw that they didn't. I asked her to update my number and also to inform the technician of the number change. Obviously he wouldn't be able to get hold of me on the wrong number.

Still, I heard nothing. It was now after 15:00. I phoned againand asked consultant number 3 to please check if the previous consultant had indeed updated my number. The number was still wrong. At this stage my airtime had run out. However, I thought that there was still hope due to the fact that I was told that the technician was working until 17:00.

I waited for my wife to arrive from work to phone Telkom for the 4th time. This was just before 16:00. This consult told me that my details had been updated on the 25th of February. Blatant lie or were the other consultants not correct? Consultant 4 also told me that she couldn't get hold of Johan. (She was the only one that mentioned the technicians name.)

Furthermore, she said that they only work until 16:00 which meant that my installation would not be done today.

I can't just leave work every time Telkom tells me I have an "all day appointment." So now when will my installation be done? Telkom has a monopoly, we all know that. The service in the shop was top notch to get my signature on that contract. Now, however, it has gone from excellent to pathetic.

I really hope that someone will be able to fix this absolutely useless service. Or, at least offer me an explanation as to what happened with Johan?

Sorry about my mood, but I'm honestly disappointed.
