Landline - 6 continous months of faults

Telkom like many other SOE, is just as useless, uninterested, and simly just as pathetic as another SA SOE!

Since Aug 2016, when I first logged a faulty line and ADSL service, the service has offer to now to restore a landline has been dismal to say the least!

Fault after fault report, technitians come and go like jo-jo's but not one can, or is interested let alone compotenet to fix a simple line line fault.

I pay Telkom monthly to delivery a Landline with 2Mbps ADSL service, and since Agust 2016, I'm lucky if a get 1Mbps, when the line does work, most other times I'm lucky to see 500Kbps, nevermind the constant scratchy and noisy line!

For this afternoon I had a confirmed appointment , at 14H00, with Telkom to check the line fault from my property, WELL, guess what the time is now 16Hoo, and no show! Congatulations Telkom, for your prompt service with a confirmed appointment!

After a bit to investigation into switching to fiber, now I see Telkom SA has the sole mandate to deliver Fiber to Business or Home, through it's subsiduary partner company's, similar to OpenServe, who service my area, and perform all of Telkoms' fault repairs, installations and so on . . . .
Well maybe Open Serve should also now be included in this complaint of poor service!

Thank you!

To add to insult for pathetic service, a technician from Open Serve, presents himself in the afternoon on the 1st May, a Worker's Day Pulic Holiday, unannounced, without any appointment, after missing a confirmed appointment that was missed, on Friday, 28th April @ 14H00.

I allow the Open Serve technician onto the premises, and proceeds to check my line and acknowledges that the line is still faulty or damaged.

He askes to leave the property, with testing equipment connected to the telephone jack, and went out to test the line from the other end at the junction box. A short while later, he returns telling me that the line is faulty from the phone jack to the junction box, AND, as well from the juntion box to the exchange.

He assured me that he will return with a call with info and progress of the line repair. Well guess what "silence is golden", no calls to date!

Simply, it says to me, middle finger to you customer!!

Why MUST I as a customer to PM Telkom, with my details via "Hello Peter", when I have complained almost constantly for more than 6 months, now????

Surely, if Telkom keeps abreast of all their fault reference numbers which they issue to customers when reporting a fault, then surely, if a line records more than 6 faults ( or regular ASDL connectivity reset requests) over a six month period, then this simple fact should surely raise red flag/s with Telkom, that there is or are problems with a line/s or the exvhanges, and you Telkom should be obliged to repair the line connection and connectivity, without the customer needing to know about it, or wait until the line completely fails, or wait for the customer to go balistic to get escalated attention for the line to be repaired. Telkom, you had six months to fix the line, all the while the monthly account is honoured by me, for simply a pathetic service the last 6 months!

My last fault report had been open for almost a full month now. One can barely hear the dual tone, let alone hear incoming calls, and obviously no ADSL!

I have spent a small fortune last month on 3G connectivity, but yet Telkom demands that I pay for a service I not getting, and offers nothing in return, no temporary 3g while land line is faulty, no discount on monthly account and heaven forbidden to ask for a refund for the months where the line was or is faulty!

Extremely annoyed! A miracle needs to happen to restore any faith in Telkom SA, which is HIGHLY unlikely!!?

Rating as follows,

Telkom Customer Services & Call Centre, and Social media = 1

( All I get is, "Sir, we are escalating and attending to the fault/s on your line!", and absolutely very little happens!

Telkom & Open Serve technical staff attending to faults promptly =1 (Attending to faults as and when they like, not really looking for exact cause of faults, always just looking for short cuts and temporary fixes, where line/s needs to be actually repaired or replaced, and where customers are never right)!

Even my neighbour has been effected by this dismal poor state of affairs, lack of interest, and pathetic poor service levels, as we share a common service line!

Responding Area manger for Roodepoort area exchanges = 0 (Needs to be fired immediately, and replaced with interested and competent person, who is going to engage customers on the ground).

Telkom, thank you kindly for the excellent service over the past 15 years , prior to the last 6 months! Over this weekend, I'll be searching for another affordable connection, and will be strongly considering my options as a continuing customer of Telkom!
