It's sickening how Telkom is getting away with *****

You've probably heard this story before, or something similar. I took on a contract with telkom many years ago but after some advice decided to extend my contract only on a month to month payment. Midway through Jan 2020 I decided to get fiber from another service provider and wanted get my telkom contract cancelled. I phoned them and was -in rather unhelpful terms- told I need to go online and do it there.

After a rather inconvenient process of creating an online account with them and figuring out how to cancel, getting all the relevant information and filling in the boxes etc. I pressed SUBMIT...and I waited. Nothing happened. I was just taken back to the submit page where I tried again and again and again yet nothing happened. Note there is ZERO way to prove that you cancelled unless this page allows you you to submit and give you a reference number. I never got a reference number. But that shouldn't be a problem when you're on a month-to-month right? Wrong. They kept billing me into the following months to which I sent out an email to their support who then asks "do you have a reference number for the cancellation?" HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO GET THAT IF THE SYSTEM DOESN'T EVEN WORK?? Every time you email them they are going through that case number and then back to that proof of cancellation which they request but which is impossible to get.

This organization is been milking it's clients for every cent through ********** means by making the process of cancellation deliberately nebulous and impossible. They will open the highways to get money from you but when you want to cancel they throw the door in your face. I'm trying to get a home loan but this has now thrown me in the negative with the credit bureau, this has now become personal. I have received a letter from debt collectors that I owe them over R7000, I do not think I owe them a cent. What can we the public do against these **********? It doesn't seem to matter they always get their money in the end.
