It's sad :(

I would give this zero stars but it's not an option. For the last 10 months, I have had to rely on mobile wifi as I had been living in an area where the was no fibre and no adsl. I purchased Telkom mobile wifi sim card and proceeded to try and use the internet. The experience was a nightmare right after I left the store. I took the sim home put it in my mobile wifi router and tried to connect to the mobile wifi network and it just wouldn't connect. I don't have a car so I had to walk back to the store to find out why it would work, they told me it was probably my router that was not supported so I bought a Huawei router from Telkom. I took it home and still it was days before I could actually connect to the internet due to the network and problems with cables and whatever other excuses they gave at the time. I would like to state that I kept checking to see whether I had enough data left through their app and it kept saying that I had adequate data available. With that being said even when I was able to connect I used to get daily sms notifications telling me that my data had run out, even when the app showed that I had adequate data left and I did indeed have connectivity. Streaming was and it and continues to be a nightmare, not to mention the issues you will face before you workshop through how to purchasing which data bundles to use with your your various devices. This is because Telkom sells various bundle options which include browsing data and streaming data. A smart tv requires both, so if you bought only streaming data, you will find that your tv is rendered useless when the supplier releases a firmware update and you need to connect to the internet to get the update. If you buy the browsing only data, you can use the internet to browse but you won't be able to stream. If you buy the straight data bundles that don't discern between streaming and browsing you will quickly find your data bill running into thousands of rands as I discovered to my horror. High data prices aside, it would almost be acceptable if we were paying for reliable services but in actual fact you get nailed on both fronts. I have it a year and it's getting worse as the days go by. We created a life that encourages us to move to rely on the internet for pretty much everything. When we don't have access to the internet, is there even life?
