It seems impossible to cancel my Telkom line

I had a Telkom line put in a few years ago so that I can have an ADSL connection through MWeb. I didn’t want to have a Telkom line, but it was a requirement for the MWeb ADSL service.

In December 2015 I had a fibre line put in through another service provider - Greencom. Satisfied with the fibre line I decided to cancel the Telkom line seeing as I had no further use for it. Cancelling, however, seems impossible.

There is nowhere on Telkom’s website where I could go, or a number that I could phone to cancel the line. Telkom shops all say that they can’t cancel the line and that I have to do it online. I eventually found out that I had to fill in an 42546 Contract Service Cancellation Form F 2, along with the latest monthly statement and a copy of my ID and email it to ********** with the subject line “Cancellation of Telkom line”.

I have been doing this since February, and last tried on May 30, and once I did receive an SMS telling me that someone from Telkom will be in touch. No-one has contacted me. Telkom’s billing system, however, works flawlessly because I still keep getting billed R189.00 for a line that I have cancelled in February. That adds up to R1512.00 that I will probaly not be refunded for.
I even asked Beeld newspaper’s consumer section - Tot U diens - to help, and they also couldn’t make any headway. What more must I do to cancel this damned Telkom line and get my money back?

Guess what? I just received yet another Telkom bill in my email inbox! This time, however, they have credited my account with R280.45! That is just sweet... but where is that money going? Is it going to be deposited into my bank account? And what about the money I have been paying since February when I first attempted to cancel my line? I paid more than R1500 so far this year. What's happening to that money?

It seems I might have read last month's statement wrong... I have just received yet another Telkom statement. Am I reading it wrong? When the amounts keep adding up it means I owe Telkom money, but if it says 'CR' next to the amount does it mean Telkom owes me money?
